Know Before You Go

Before your visit it’s helpful to know a few key things about the local environment, especially the altitude and weather. Being prepared will help you stay comfortable and make the most of your time in Albuquerque.

High Altitude:

Albuquerque is located at an elevation of just over 5,000 feet above sea level. Visitors who aren’t accustomed to higher altitudes may notice mild effects such as increased thirst or feeling tired more quickly. To stay comfortable, we recommend drinking plenty of water, incorporating electrolytes as needed, and pacing your consumption of alcohol and caffeine while your body adjusts.

Typical Weather Conditions:

October in Albuquerque tends to be cooler, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s°F (18–24°C). Evenings and mornings are noticeably cooler, often dropping into the 40s and 50s°F (4–15°C), so light jackets or layers are recommended. The air remains dry, so sun protection and hydration are still important, especially if you’re spending time outside.
