On June 18, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham confirmed New Mexico will retire its color-coded, county-by-county reopening system on July 1 and lift COVID-19 health restrictions on commercial and day-to-day activity. In late March, the City of Albuquerque announced that it would invest $1.5 million to help boost the recovery of the local tourism industry. Visit Albuquerque has been working closely with the City and the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board to manage $1 million of the investment to promote Albuquerque as a top destination for travelers.
The City-funded advertising campaign launched on June 1 with messages that focus on outdoor recreation; arts and culture; and distinctive Albuquerque experiences, events and attractions. The ads will generate more than 200 million impressions through the end of the campaign in mid-October.
The marketing campaign will help ensure that Albuquerque is in a strong position to capture pent-up demand for travel over the summer and throughout the rest of the year.

The new Unbelievable Pass officially launched earlier this month. The pass is designed to support local businesses in the leisure and entertainment industry by connecting them with New Mexicans who are eager to have some fun. The Unbelievable Pass is the only entertainment and discount pass of its kind in New Mexico.
The pass currently provides discounts at nearly three dozen entertainment-based businesses in the metro area, with additional businesses joining soon. Businesses are not charged to participate in the pass, and each business determines the type of discount it wants to offer to customers. While most customers are understanding and sympathetic, others are surprised when they experience longer wait times, shorter hours, reduced services or other operational changes. As businesses adjust to the rapid return of customers, it’s important to set expectations and let customers know that things might look a little different.
