Visit Albuquerque Welcomes New Vice President of Destination Development & Community Engagement

Brooke Jung comes to Visit ABQ with over 15 years of industry experience

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (Jan. 17, 2024) –  Visit Albuquerque is pleased to welcome Brooke Jung as the organization’s new Vice President of Destination Development & Community Engagement. Jung comes to Albuquerque with over 15 years of experience in tourism and experiential marketing.

“Brooke’s extensive background in tourism and experiential marketing – along with her passion for creating top-notch events and impressions for destinations – makes her an ideal fit for our team,” said Visit Albuquerque President & CEO Tania Armenta. “With over 15 years of industry experience, she is already bringing new ideas and fresh perspectives to the organization. We look forward to incorporating her expertise as we continue to promote Albuquerque as a top destination to visit, which enhances our residents’ quality of life.”

Jung leads the Destination Development & Community Engagement division, which is responsible for developing partnerships, overseeing the organization’s Visitor Information Centers at the Albuquerque International Sunport and in Old Town and crafting short- and long-term plans to enhance Albuquerque visitor experiences.

“I am thrilled to join the Visit Albuquerque team, particularly during a time when the organization and the city’s tourism and hospitality industry are experiencing such positive momentum,” said Jung. “I am eager to contribute my passion and expertise to elevate Albuquerque as a premier destination by forging meaningful partnerships and crafting innovative plans that will not only enhance the visitor experience but also deeply connect with the local community. Together, we will create a lasting impact, making Albuquerque a must-visit destination for travelers seeking unforgettable moments and authentic connections."

Jung’s first day with the organization was Dec. 4, 2023. In the short time she has been with the organization, Jung has already contributed to several major initiatives for Visit Albuquerque. Examples include her involvement with the implementation of a Destination Master Plan (DMP) for Albuquerque – a long-term, comprehensive approach to improving the city’s competitiveness. A key outcome with the creation of a DMP for Albuquerque is moving forward a destination experience that ensures we can elevate our existing assets and fuel new development. It will improve the visitor experience and help foster an improved quality of life for Albuquerque residents. She will also serve as an integral part of the organization’s Tourism Grant Program, which helps support innovative ideas that contribute to Albuquerque’s vibrancy and builds new, creative visitor and resident experiences that grow a more diverse and thriving tourism economy.

Jung comes to Visit Albuquerque most recently from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where she served as the Executive Director of the Hopkinsville Convention & Visitors Bureau. She successfully branded Hopkinsville as the “Batter Capital of the World” and secured over $1 million in grant funding for marketing initiatives.

Jung led the tourism initiatives for the city of Hopkinsville and Christian County along with pitching and negotiating contracts to convention and event organizers. She worked with Hopkinsville city leaders and statewide partners to grow the presence of tourism on local, state and national levels, including through her role as the President of Team Kentucky – a statewide sports tourism coalition.

She previously served as the Solar Eclipse Marketing and Events Consultant for the City of Hopkinsville in 2017 when the destination was identified as a top city for viewing the solar eclipse. Jung’s background also includes roles with the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Louisville Sports Commission and Churchill Downs.

Jung has a Master of Arts in communication from Bellarmine University and a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and public relations from Morehead State University.

In her free time, she enjoys adventures with her husband and blue heeler (Banjo) and discovering all that her new home of ABQ has to offer, including her newfound love of green chile.
