Know Before You Go
Before your visit it’s helpful to know a few key things about the local environment, especially the altitude and weather. Being prepared will help you stay comfortable and make the most of your time in Albuquerque.
High Altitude:
Albuquerque is located at an elevation of just over 5,000 feet above sea level. Visitors who aren’t accustomed to higher altitudes may notice mild effects such as increased thirst or feeling tired more quickly. To stay comfortable, we recommend drinking plenty of water, incorporating electrolytes as needed, and pacing your consumption of alcohol and caffeine while your body adjusts.
Typical Weather Conditions:
April in Albuquerque is mild and sunny, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s°F (18–24°C). Mornings and evenings are cooler, often dipping into the 40s and 50s°F (4–13°C), so layers are recommended. Comfortable, lightweight clothing works well during the day, paired with a light jacket or sweater for early mornings or after sunset. The high-desert climate remains dry, making hydration and sun protection important, especially when spending time outdoors.
