Visit Albuquerque Announces 2023 Grantees for Tourism Grant Program

Program supports growth of diverse and thriving tourism economy in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (Aug. 23, 2023) – Visit Albuquerque, the city's official destination marketing organization (DMO), is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2023 Tourism Grant Program. In its pilot year, the program’s goal is to spark innovative ideas that contribute to Albuquerque’s vibrancy and generate creative visitor and resident experiences that benefit and grow tourism along with building community.

Visit Albuquerque received an overwhelming response to the Tourism Grant Program. A total of 72 applications were submitted, collectively requesting over $1.8 million in funding. Among a pool of exceptional applications, 18 projects were selected for their potential to help grow a more diverse and thriving tourism economy. A total of $429,000 will be awarded to the 18 grant recipients to support their projects.

“We are proud to support these creative and impactful projects that promote Albuquerque's unique experiences, inspire economic growth and benefit community development,” said Tania Armenta, president and CEO of Visit Albuquerque. “These investments represent our continuous commitment to further strengthening Albuquerque’s reputation as a top destination for leisure travel, meetings and events. We are fortunate the new Tourism Marketing assessment funding enabled us to introduce this program, and the industry looks forward to benefiting from the efforts.”

The program is made possible due to revenue generated by the Albuquerque Tourism Marketing District (ATMD), a coalition of approximately 150 local lodging properties that agreed to an assessment for guests on overnight stays. Visit Albuquerque uses the assessed dollars to expand marketing of the city as a destination and enhance the visitor experience.
