National Hispanic Cultural Center

The National Hispanic Cultural Center celebrates Hispanic culture and heritage. Hispanic, Chicano and Latinx artists showcase their work here. The NHCC also hosts exhibitions, lectures, performances and other educational programming.

Popular Exhibits & Experiences

With three galleries to showcase art, there are always different exhibitions rotating through. Check the schedule to see what’s on display now.

The Mundos de Mestizaje is a mural in the Torreón on the NHCC campus. This fresco by Frederico Vigil depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history. The fresco spans 4,000 square feet and is one of the largest frescos in North America. Guided tours are offered Thursdays and Fridays at 11 a.m.

Visitors can also browse the NHCC library, which holds over 14,300 titles. Explore titles by Latinx poets, bilingual children’s books, history books and more.

Annual Events & Festivals

There are always numerous events happening at the NHCC year-round. Check the events calendar to see what’s happening now.

Some annual highlights include Opera Southwest performances, one of the few ways to experience opera in Albuquerque. This professional company produces two to three operas a year, and focuses on providing an intimate and accessible opera experience for guests of all ages.

The NHCC is a co-presenter of Festival Flamenco Alburquerque, a weeklong celebration of flamenco in Albuquerque. The NHCC hosts multiple performances throughout the festival.

Each December, the Festival Ballet Albuquerque and the NHCC teams up to produce “Nutcracker in the Land of Enchantment,” a Southwestern take on the traditional Christmas story.

Admission & Parking

The art museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The welcome center and Torreón are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission costs:

  • New Mexico residents $5
  • Torreón tour $2
  • K-12 New Mexico educators and administrators $3
  • Kids 0-17 $0
  • Foster parents and children in the custody of foster parents $0

On Wednesdays, New Mexico resident seniors 60+ get free admission. Admission is free for all New Mexico residents the first Sunday of each month. The NHCC is a Blue Star museum. 

There is ample parking at the entrance of the NHCC.
