We welcomed the final Gathering of Nations Pow Wow at the end of April and are grateful for the immense contributions the event has made to the tourism economy in Albuquerque during the past 43 years. The city also hosted the 2026 USA Judo Senior National Championships in early May, welcoming more than 1,250 attendees to our destination. With summer just ahead, we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to Albuquerque.
Each May, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Our city is home to many great ways to explore and learn about the impact Asian American and Pacific Islander culture has had on our city.

Visit Albuquerque’s President & CEO Tania Armenta, Director of Communications & Public Relations Brenna Moore, Travel Trade & Travel Media Manager Meg Espie, and National Sales Manager Nikki Baca attended the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW 2026, held May 17-21 in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This year’s event featured an expanded signature booth thanks to investment from the New Mexico Tourism Department, and the state’s presence included representation from NMTD, TOURISM Santa Fe, Visit Las Cruces, Visit Gallup, and partners from the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway, Heritage Inspirations and more. During the three-day tradeshow, Visit Albuquerque met with over 50 media members and travel buyers representing markets across the world. New Mexico’s level of participation at this year’s event marks the continued commitment to the travel trade market for Albuquerque and the state, particularly during the Route 66 centennial year.
