Wheels Museum

Located at the Albuquerque Rail Yards, once home to the Santa Fe Locomotive Repair Shops, WHEELS Museum brings New Mexico’s transportation history to life. Housed in the 1915 Storehouse, the museum explores how railroads, automobiles, aviation, bicycles, and other forms of transportation helped connect Albuquerque to the region and the world.
Visitors can explore antique vehicles, model trains of every scale, airplanes, a vintage fire truck, historic photographs, hands-on exhibits, and thousands of transportation-related artifacts. More than a museum, WHEELS is a growing destination for education, community programs, special events, and experiences that connect the history of transportation with its future.
WHEELS Museum is a volunteer-supported nonprofit dedicated to preserving history, inspiring curiosity, and helping current and future generations understand the impact of transportation on New Mexico and the West. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.
