University of New Mexico Art Museum

Overview
The University of New Mexico Art Museum was founded in 1963 & since then its permanent collection has grown to over 30,000 objects-paintings, drawings, prints, photographs & sculpture-the largest fine art collection in the State of NM. The Museum offers a regular program of lectures, gallery talks, symposia, docent tours, printed gallery guides & catalogs to complement its exhibitions. The University Art Museum's mission is to educate about & through art. Along with this primary mission, we directly support the academic programs of UNM, enrich the cultural life of the region & contribute to the international scholarly community. While the University Art Museum accepts its special responsibility as the only state institution to regularly exhibit world-class art from outside of this region, it also seeks through its programs to provide a context for the cultures that have flourished in this state.
