Visit Albuquerque’s Sales, Services & Sports Division Welcomes Two New Team Members
Mara Saubers joins Visit Albuquerque as Senior Convention Services Manager;Dionne Hulsey to serve as Convention Sales Representative for the Midwest region
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (June 28, 2023) – Visit Albuquerque is pleased to welcome Mara Saubers as the organization’s Senior Convention Services Manager as well as Dionne Hulsey in a contractor position as Convention Sales Representative for the Midwest region.
“Dionne and Mara have already proven to be valuable additions to our Sales, Services & Sports team,” said Scott Craighead, Vice President of Sales, Services & Sports for Visit Albuquerque. “They bring great experience and knowledge to their respective positions.”
Saubers joins the organization with nearly 35 years of management experience and more than 20 years of sales experience. No stranger to the New Mexico hospitality industry, she served as a Sales Manager for the Albuquerque Convention Center for over seven years. Prior to that, Saubers spent over 12 years in Santa Fe in various convention services and sales roles, with positions at the Inn and Spa at Loretto as well as the Santa Fe Convention & Visitors Bureau. She received her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Arkansas, as well as her master’s degree in library and information sciences from the University of North Carolina.
“Mara is a familiar face in the sales and hospitality industries in New Mexico,” said Craighead. “Between her experience with the Albuquerque Convention Center and her ability to keep things in motion, Mara hit the ground running on the first day of starting with the organization. She has been a welcome addition to our team.”
Hulsey has over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including generating meetings and convention business for Tourisme Montréal and Visit Spokane. She began her career in the hospitality industry through a college internship while studying at Purdue University. She believes working in the industry is her true passion and says it has provided her with incredible opportunities and lifelong friendships around the globe. Hulsey has been an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) for over 20 years, serving in a variety of volunteer and leadership positions. In 2020, she received the Pillar Award from the Greater Midwest Chapter of PCMA in recognition of her volunteer efforts.
“Having over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a personal background from the Midwest made Dionne the ideal candidate to contribute to our team and represent our sales effort in the Midwestern U.S.,” said Craighead. “Her involvement with PCMA and her true passion to help others speaks volumes about the work she has done, and we couldn’t be happier to have her with us.”
