SANDIA PREP TO HOST INAUGURAL
FIRE & ICE FAMILY FOOD FESTIVAL ON NOVEMBER 7

Free community festival features 20+ Blue Bell ice cream flavors, spicy New Mexico favorites, food trucks, foam party, live DJ and family entertainment

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Nov. 4, 2026 — Sandia Prep is turning up the heat and cooling things down with the inaugural FIRE & ICE Family Food Festival, a celebration of food, fun and community on Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon to 4 p.m. The festival is open to all families, with FREE admission and optional tasting tickets available for purchase.

Festivalgoers can sample more than 20 flavors of Blue Bell ice cream, along with specialty chocolate creations from Albuquerque's own Chocolate Cartel. On the FIRE side, guests can turn up the heat with samples of locally made salsas, hot honey, spicy beef jerky, green chile popcorn, hot sauces and other chile-infused specialties.

Admission to the festival is completely free. Families are welcome to explore the Sandia Prep campus, enjoy the entertainment, visit vendors and participate in festival activities without purchasing tasting tickets.

For those who want to sample the FIRE & ICE flavors, $5 tasting passes include 15 tasting tickets when purchased online in advance. Guests can mix and match their 15 tastes however they choose — all sweet, all spicy or a little of everything.

Advance tasting passes are available at SandiaPrep.org/FireandIce.

More Than a Food Festival

Beyond the tastings, FIRE & ICE will transform the Sandia Prep campus into an afternoon of family entertainment featuring a live DJ, foam party, carnival games, food trucks and activities for all ages. The festival will also feature a special performance by the Bandelier Jump Rope Team.

The event is designed to bring the greater Albuquerque community together while introducing new families to Sandia Prep's welcoming campus.

“We're excited to open our campus and welcome families from across Albuquerque for an afternoon of fun, food and connection,” said Scott Jeffries, Head of School at Sandia Prep. “FIRE & ICE is about more than ice cream and salsa. It's an opportunity for families to experience the energy, creativity and sense of community that make Sandia Prep such a special place.”

Whether families come for the ice cream, the spicy salsa, the foam party or simply to enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon, everyone is welcome.

A Taste of New Mexico

The festival will showcase an exciting collection of local and regional food businesses.

On the ICE side, Blue Bell Ice Cream and Chocolate Cartel will offer tastings, while Busy Bee Frozen Custard, PNP Gourmet Paletas, Pop Pops and The Brain Freezer will offer frozen desserts and specialty treats for purchase.

The FIRE side will feature New Mexico favorites including Bueno Foods, New Mexico Sabor Salsa, Sadie's Salsa, Honey Shack NM, Deedee's Finest Beef Jerky, The Cornivore Popcorn Co., Fiesta On the Go and Sandia Spice Company.

Guests can also enjoy additional food available for purchase from Joseph's Kitchen, Sanchez Tacos and Zia Bros Pizza.
