New Mexico Games to Host Pickleball Tournament
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (Sept. 12, 2024) – The New Mexico Games will host a Pickleball Tournament at the Manzano Mesa Pickleball Complex from Sept. 20-22, 2024. Registration is currently open with a $60 registration fee and will close at midnight on Sunday, Sept. 15. Anyone over the age of 12 is eligible to compete.
The event will be divided into three brackets: Men’s and Women’s Open Singles, Men’s and Women’s Open Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The tournament kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, starting with the Open Singles bracket.
The top three finishers from each division will receive gold, silver and bronze medals. They will also qualify to compete in the 2026 State Games of America (SGA) National Competition that will be held July 28 to Aug. 2 in State College, Pennsylvania.

According to a recent report by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), pickleball continues to rise in popularity, with over 13.6 million players in the United States. The report also showed that pickleball continues to be the fastest-growing sport in America, having grown 51.8% from 2022 to 2023, and over 223% since 2020.

The New Mexico Games offers statewide sports competition for New Mexico's athletes and was first introduced to the state in 1989. Today, over 3,500 athletes participate in 15+ sports at the Olympic-style sports festival during from May-November. The Games are recognized and encouraged by the United States Olympic Committee and state winners get invited to the Biannual State Games of America.
