Albuquerque to Host Inaugural 2026 USA Pump Track Championships Series Opener
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (Aug. 19, 2026) – Albuquerque will welcome riders from across the country for the 2026 USA Pump Track National Series on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Los Altos BMX Pump Track. The free, family-friendly event marks the opening race of the inaugural USA Pump Track Championships, a new three-stop national competition designed to bring grassroots pump track racing to communities nationwide.
The National Series is presented in partnership with the City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department, with support from Visit Albuquerque, Dialed Events and Velosolutions, the international leader in pump track design and racing. It will be the first national competition held at the Los Altos BMX Pump Track, which opened in May 2025.
“Some of our most iconic spots, like Los Altos Park, are getting national attention,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “These types of events invite riders, fans and families to explore why our city is a premier recreation destination.”
"Hosting the series opener of the inaugural USA Pump Track Championships gives Albuquerque an opportunity to showcase the exceptional Los Altos BMX Pump Track and our growing reputation as a destination for cycling and outdoor recreation," said Tania Armenta, President & CEO of Visit Albuquerque. "This event demonstrates how investments in high-quality facilities can create new opportunities for our community and strengthen Albuquerque's ability to attract competitive sporting events.”
"Albuquerque is round one of something bigger," said Harrison Bredahl, USA Pump Track Championship Director. "The USA Pump Track Championships is a three-stop series bringing accessible, grassroots pump track racing to communities across the country, and there's no better place to kick it off. This is just the start; riders here are getting in on the ground floor of a series built around the community."
Designed for riders of all ages and skill levels, the USA Pump Track Championships offer an inclusive racing format that welcomes competitors ranging from first-time racers to experienced cyclists. Professional race timing and results will be managed through Zone4, while the series is sponsored by Vorld, Velosolutions' precision lap-timing app used at more than 200 pump tracks in 26 countries.
Following a successful test race earlier this month in Gastonia, North Carolina, the Albuquerque competition will officially launch the championship's inaugural season. Spectators can expect fast-paced racing, an energetic atmosphere and the chance to experience one of the nation's newest pump track venues.
Racer check-in runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Mini and Junior qualifying will take place throughout the morning, followed by Mini and Junior races from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The Vorld Skate Challenge will take place at 12:45 p.m., followed by Open, Vet and Masters qualifying from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. The Open, Vet and Masters race will begin at 2:45 p.m., with podium presentations following each class.
