Albuquerque’s Grecian Festival is back for its 50th anniversary from Friday, Oct. 3, to Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church. Anyone born in 1975 gets in free – all weekend. Let us hear you say Opa!

In 1974, Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Albuquerque was assigned a new parish priest, Rev. Father Demetrius T. Dogias. Father Dogias was instrumental in reviving and growing the St. George parish during his ministry. Along with the parish council, he founded the annual Albuquerque Grecian Festival in 1975. The Festival began as a way to join the Saint George community to work on an event showcasing Greek culture and what was at the time the only Orthodox church in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Grecian Festival continued to grow and improve over the decades until it became what it is now, in its 50th year, one of the most beloved annual events in the Duke City.

At the Grecian Festival, you can learn how to prepare authentic Greek cuisine at a cooking lesson in the Tavérna. Enjoy traditional Greek dances or immerse yourself in the sound of the bouzóuki in a dance lesson. Take a tour of the Saint George Church in the historic Huning Highlands neighborhood. Enjoy shopping for imported jewelry, gifts, foods and pastries. This year, there will be special performances by the original Festival dancers from its first year and anniversary food, drink and merchandise.
