Albuquerque Comic Con

Celebrating 10 years of Albuquerque Comic Con in the amazing Duke City. Fun filled weekend of Pop Culture and Comic Book creations for the whole family. Also celebrating 20 years of the Boondock Saints and 10 years of Albuquerque Comic Con, Sean Patrick Flanery is bringing his stories from the set of that iconic film franchise and his dozens of other film credits.  This year we have a special Sensitivity opening allowing kids dealing with autism to come in early at 3pm. From 3-4pm they will be given a special cosplay building seminar by the talented cosplay artist Dava Renee. This is free to all kids who want to build a costume. Mask or cape materials are included.

Adult Night – Know & Glow- For Ages 18+

The science of all things glow! Including forensics, fluorescence, and bioluminescence. Dive into animals of the deep, investigate forensic sciences, and more! Explore all of Explora’s hands-on exhibits while enjoying live music.  Live Music by Entourage Jazz. Food for sale from Punchy’s Pizza.  Have a fun Friday night at a great price!  Free for members.

Al’burrr’querque Polar Bear Plunge

Are you a thrill seeker? Do you take on any dare thrown your way? Do you want to provide free swimming lessons to a child in need? Well...we have a perfect way for you to start off the new year right! Take the plunge on January 18th, 2020 into the 50-degree waters of the outdoor slide pool at the West Mesa Aquatic Center. The pool has been specially prepared for your adventure. Have the option to jump into the deeper end, run into the pool on the beach side, or take on the challenge of going down one of the slides! This is a fundraising event for the Shanta Strong Swim fund. All of the event fees will go directly to the ONE Albuquerque Fund to help pay for swimming lesson scholarships. We will also donate part of the proceeds to feed the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo polar bears and penguins! 

Toughest Monster Truck Tour

The Toughest Monster Truck Tour includes several of the nation’s best monster trucks including the Original Monster Truck, Bigfoot, the monster-sized dump truck Dirt Crew, the world’s biggest ATV, Quad Chaos and more competing in nail-biting racing, wow-factor Wheelies and free-for-all monster Truck Freestyle! In addition to the monster truck action, a surprise side act will also be featured.  “If you ask any monster truck driver who has competed in the Toughest Monster Truck Tour, they will tell you that indeed, the Toughest Monster Truck Tour has the most difficult tracks of all the tours, which is why it is called the Toughest Monster Truck Tour,” said Kelly Goldman of the Toughest Monster Truck Tour.  “Our tracks always include dirt tracks and old-school crush cars buried in the dirt to create unique obstacles for the trucks to navigate during all aspects of competition. Because of the high level of difficulty, only the best monster truck and drivers are invited to participate.”

Since 1960, the company has proudly shared dance, music, and costume of the Mexican Republic, and has performed in over 30 countries. Enjoy the show as performers infuse each dance with intricate tales of traditional meaning and history.
