Overview

Public Reception -- Friday, February 17, 5-6:30 pm

Library Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Saturday 10 am – 5 pm
Sunday 1 – 4pm

Escribiente, Albuquerque’s Calligraphy Society, celebrates its 45th anniversary with an exhibition of calligraphic art by its members in the Placitas Community Library’s Gracie Lee Community Room.

“The Love of Calligraphy,” beginning February 4 and continuing through March 16, showcases a diversity of styles and techniques ranging from delicate, ornate, pen and ink flourishes to vivid letter-based abstractions rendered in various media.

On Saturday, February 25 from 2:00-4:00 pm, Escribiente calligraphers will be on site to demonstrate their methods and materials. Using metal nibs and pointed brushes they will create a personalized bookmark for each attendee.

The group, which offers online programs, monthly meetups and workshops with local and national instructors, is open to anyone interested in the fine art of calligraphy. To learn more, go to escribiente.org. Many of the works in the exhibition will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Placitas Community Library.
