RIVER: A Reconstruction of the Rio Grande

Overview

Presented by Robert Wilson. RIVER: A Reconstruction of the Rio Grande is an homage to the Rio Grande. It is a symbolic depiction of the sun-lit surface, the dark riverbed, and the mysterious space between those elements. It creates an illusion of floating driftwood on a rippling flow of water, it reflects light and casts shadows, and it presents to the viewer the simultaneous illusions of massive movement in a carved out space. RIVER celebrates the life-giving presence of the Rio Grande in the many generations of animal, plant and human populations that have lived along its course.
