Long Version:

“Reality and Dream,” works by photographer Daniel Region and clay artist KD Fullerton, form Amapola Gallery’s Featured Artist display for March.

Dan Region, with an extensive background in radio and television broadcasting, shares his view of reality with the click of a shutter and an artist’s eye.  He seeks a magical combination of shadow and light in his views of New Mexico’s distinctive architecture and landscapes. His portraits capture “a brief glimpse at the soul and spirit of an individual.” This professional actor, director, novelist and graphic designer now delivers memorably as a photographer.

KD Fullerton indulges her dreams, her imagination, through clay.  She creates objects that never were but might almost have been, influenced by New Mexican rock art and her ancient potters.  Mostly wall art, her pieces are hand built from slabs, and have a mottled, textured look resulting from her smoky pit firing.  Fired-in metal objects add another dimension to her works.  She hopes these will bring “a smile, a sense of history and a feeling of grounding in Mother Earth.”

Meet the artists Friday, March 1, from 3 to 6 pm. Enjoy reality and dream the dream with Region and Fullerton.  The exhibit runs through March.
