Performance: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Joseph and the Amazing technicolor Dreamcoat is the classic family musical from the Tony Award-winning creative team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice ("Jesus Christ, Superstar"; "Evita"). The first of their collaborations, the musical was first produced in London in 1968 and it has become one of the creative duo’s most frequently-performed shows for fifty years.

Joseph tells the Biblical story of the favorite son of Jacob and his struggles that are brought about by his eleven jealous brothers when their father gave Joseph a coat of many beautiful colors. After they sell him into slavery, Joseph endures imprisonment and soon prevails to become a counselor to the Pharaoh of Egypt as he becomes the interpreter of the Pharaoh’s dreams and he rises to become the second-most powerful man in Egypt. When he encounters his brothers in Egypt, Joseph tests and ultimately forgives them. Once again he joins his family for one of the happiest endings in musical theater.
