Opera Southwest Presents: The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus

Overview

Opera Southwest Presents: The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus

Mozart – Mass in C Minor, K. 427
Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, K. 550

(Sung in Latin and performed in the original language)
Two pillars of Mozart’s mature style: one sacred, one symphonic.
Modeled on the grandeur of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the Salzburg ceremonial tradition, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor blends contrapuntal rigor with operatic brilliance. Though unfinished, it stands among the most exalted sacred works of the Classical era. Paired with the storm-lit urgency of the G Minor Symphony, this program reveals the expressive breadth of Mozart’s late style.
Featuring soloists Lindsay Ohse, Amanda Crider, Bernard Holcomb, and Javier Ortiz.

At the National Hispanic Cultural Center Journal Theater
