Overview

The New Mexico Women’s Chorus (NMWC) invites the community to be inspired, challenged, and energized at its upcoming concert, Fired Up! Songs of Protest and Revolution.

This powerful program features music rooted in resistance, resilience, and hope—songs that have fueled movements, amplified marginalized voices, and called communities to action. From historic anthems of protest to contemporary works addressing today’s struggles, Fired Up! celebrates the transformative power of collective voices raised in song.

The New Mexico Women’s Chorus is a no auditioned community chorus dedicated to social justice through music. The ensemble specializes in works written or made famous by women, centering stories that are often overlooked and affirming the belief that music can be a catalyst for change. Singers of all backgrounds and experience levels come together to create performances that are both artistically compelling and socially meaningful.

“At a time when so many people are feeling unheard or overwhelmed, this music reminds us that singing together has always been a form of resistance,” said representatives of the chorus. “These songs connect us to generations of activists and visionaries—and to one another.”
Fired Up! Songs of Protest and Revolution promises an evening of passion, solidarity, and inspiration, inviting audiences not only to listen, but to reflect on the role each of us plays in shaping a more just world.

Concert Dates:
January 17, 7PM, First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd NE
