Overview

Award-winning author Sharon Niederman will share highlights from her book New Mexico’s Tasty Traditions. I visited cafes, cooks, tribes, villages all over NM to collect recipes of the most traditional, long-standing dishes in NM – That is, what distinguishes NM cuisine, how it is based on locally available ingredients, and how it combines Indigenous, Spanish, homesteader and European footways.I interviewed folks from all over the state who practice and honor our food traditions and carry them on, so with the food comes a good helping of folklore.
