The art of making rope from plant fibers is one of the oldest and most useful survival skills you can learn. Early people used natural cordage to not only create tools, but also to use the strength of the plant fibers to lash in shelter constructions, make fishing lines, and to repair clothing.
Instructor Sam Kroll will teach the process of making cordage by processing leaves found locally in Albuquerque backyards. In this class you will learn how to make your own rope/cordage from plants and take home your own twined bracelet or necklace.
This is a class geared towards kids and is accessible to kids ages 8 & up!
Note: All children must have a guardian present at Fiber Arts on 4th for the duration of the workshop.
