"Living in the Story" Film Screening

Join us for the New Mexico debut of the film Living in the Story. The film documents thirty-five years of art-making by photographer Patrick Nagatani. The film portrays an artist deeply concerned with world events, who uses imagery and storytelling to raise awareness about modern anxieties, with an emphasis on the threat of nuclear weapons. Despite the serious content of his subject matter, his innovative images are compelling and entertaining. An engaging raconteur and teacher, Nagatani talks in the film about his projects, his unorthodox photographic techniques, and his subtle weaving together of fiction and fact.

The film will be shown in Popejoy theater and will be followed with a Q & A with the filmmakers. FREE tickets to Living in the Story can be picked up in person at the UNM Art Museum or at the UNM Ticket Office (at the Pit or the Bookstore location). They can also be picked up right before the screening at the Popejoy Will Call window.

Right before the film screening the UNM Art Museum invites you to celebrate the opening of the new exhibition: Patrick Nagatani: A Survey of Early Photographs. The reception will feature food by My Sweet Basil and a video remembrance booth for those that wish to share memories about Patrick.
