Overview

Meet Robin R. Salmon, author of “Images of America: Brookgreen Gardens” and “Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture: Volume II.”

Brookgreen Gardens’ expansive property in South Carolina exhibits the finest outdoor collection of American figurative sculpture in the world. It began in 1930 as a winter home for philanthropist Archer Milton Huntington and his wife, sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington.

Ms. Salmon will speak about the backgrounds of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, the founding of Brookgreen Gardens, the development of the sculpture collection by Anna Hyatt Huntington through the 1930s, and how the collection has grown since that time.

Archer Milton Huntington founded the Hispanic Society of America (New York City) in 1904. This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Visions of the Hispanic World: Treasures from the Hispanic Society Museum & Library,” coming to Albuquerque Museum November 10, 2018 to March 31, 2019.

Robin Salmon Lecture and Book Signing is a program of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, sponsored by Irene & Kevin Rowe.
