Overview

This two-day workshop will teach the basic weaving techniques of tapestry. You will learn the vocabulary words associated with weaving as well as the basic steps to set up, weave, and finish a tapestry when it is off the loom.

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

Warp a tapestry loom
Weave using six techniques (tabby weave, horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, diagonal line, shape building, and soumak)
Finish a tapestry by tying warp strands and weft ends on the back
Add fringe using rya knots

The instructor will provide warp thread, tapestry needles, and printed list of vocabulary word to get you started on your tapestry journey.
