Intermediate Nålbinding: Scandinavian Nålbound Slippers

Overview

We continue our series of intermediate nålbinding classes with Laura Danielsson Ninnemann by offering traditional Scandinavian slippers. These slippers tend to be quite warm and cozy, and offer the added benefit of sporting heels that can be replaced when worn-out.

By the end of this class, you will learn how to create your own unique pair using the Oslo and Korgan stitches.

Skills learned will include:

A brief review of the Oslo stitch
The Korgen stitch
The round start
Increasing & decreasing
Flat-work turning
Creating the heel opening
Heel construction
Replacing worn-out heels
Adding accent colors
Top edge finishing

Prerequisite: This is not a beginner-level class. Students must have sufficient nålbinding skill to work independently so that class time can focus on learning new skills.

The instructor will provide students with a customizable pattern written for use with Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride bulky weight yarn, as well as loaner snips to trim yarn ends for joining.

This class is capped at seven students for hands-on instruction.
