Overview

Part of the Bernalillo Community Museum’s Hecho En Bernalillo Art Series!

In this workshop, participants will create a garden olla. Garden Olla’s are useful in harvesting and distributing rainwater for plants and gardens.

On day one, we will discuss and review examples of garden ollas. Participants will build half of their garden olla forms using hand-building techniques. On day two, participants will finish building their forms and experiment with surface texture. Garden Ollas are unglazed and fired at low temperatures, so they are porous. Works will be bisqued fired after day two, and then returned to participants to take home.
