The Pen Women of the Yucca Branch, NLAPW (National League of American Pen Women), invite you to the opening of their Ekphrastic Poetry and Visual Art Exhibit at FUSION | 708 on Friday, February 6, from 5–7 PM.
Ekphrastic Poetry is, in the purest sense of the word, poetry inspired by a work of visual art—a painting, sculpture, photograph, etc. The Pen Women of the Yucca Branch, NLAPW (National League of American Pen Women) have, for the second time, created their own interpretation of an Ekphrastic project.
They call it cross ekphrastic.
Poets have responded to the works of painters, a sculptor, a composer, a cross-stitch artist, and one of the last artists in the world proficient in the nearly forgotten skill of Colcha embroidery. Conversely, poets and writers have responded to differing artworks in the collection to create new, original works of verse.
This is a truly unique showing filled with inspiration from a small but respected group of New Mexico artists and writers.
