Duke City Story Slam

Overview

Duke City Story Slam is an every-4th-Thursday (EXCEPT IN NOVEMBER when it'll be the 5th Thursday) true storytelling night at the Red Door Downtown organized by Storytellers of New Mexico and hosted by Nash Jones. $2-$5 sliding scale at the door.

November's theme, in honor of it being the first and only slam to occur on the 5th Thursday of the month, will be "Odd One Out".

3 Featured Storytellers and 4 Open Mic-ers (one could be you!) get up to tell true stories from their lives on the theme (without any notes!). Friendly, supportive judges score each story and top scores take home a prize!

To enter the open mic, put your name in the hat when you get to the event for a chance to get drawn. Open Mic-ers get 5 minutes on the mic.

Want a guaranteed storytelling slot at a future slam? Apply to be a Featured Teller! Message Storytellers of New Mexico. December's slam will be on the theme, "Home for the Holidays".

If you don't want to tell a story, just come to listen to some great stories while enjoying a pint of local beer!
