Collectors’ Holiday Gift Show

The 2024 Collectors’ Holiday Gift Show is taking place at Weems Gallery and Framing in Albuquerque, New Mexico November 29 through December 24. The event will include one-of-a-kind items created by the gallery’s artists, working on mediums they’ve never used before. These unique gift items will include jean jackets, vases, gords, wine glasses, guitars, jewelry and more!

Sofia Savage, who paints abstracts and contemporary landscapes, is painting a guitar and stand. “I’m having so much fun with this project,” she commented.  “It’s been a great challenge, painting on a medium I’ve never used before. I’ve finished painting the piece, the guitar just needs to be restrung and tuned!”

B. C. Nowlin has painted a leather and cottonwood drum. As he was painting the drum, B.C. contemplated the symbolism of the project.  “A lone figure, blazing in red, is late to the ceremony-but all is not lost-everyone will wait because he is the ceremony.”

Ronnie Finch DiCappo, who paints contemporary landscapes in oil, is going to paint some jean jackets. “I grew up in western Kansas and so I have an affinity for jean jackets. And the more detail and color they have on them, the more fun they are. I love this challenge of painting on something other than a canvas. It’s like wearing a painting!”

This is the first time that Weems Gallery is hosting this show. “We are always looking for new and innovative gift ideas, especially around the holidays.” Weems Gallery owner Sheila McVeigh commented. “We have lots of collectors that visit us, and to be able to purchase something that has never been done before by your favorite artist, is really exciting.”

Weems Gallery will also have hundreds of ornaments, nativities, holiday decorative items, jewelry and original paintings in all price ranges available for sale. They can also ship to anywhere in the U.S.

Enjoy some holiday cookies and hot apple cider at the reception for The Collectors’ Holiday Gift Show which will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 10-5pm with artists popping in to say hello from 1-3pm.
