Chinese New Year Extravaganza - Year of the Fire Horse

Overview

The Chinese Culture Center welcomes in the Year of the Fire Horse with its 36th annual Chinese New Year demonstration of traditional Chinese martial arts and culture. Students from Lin's Martial Arts Academy--including our kids’ team--will perform examples of Chinese martial arts as well as other popular Chinese performance arts, including ribbon dancing, lion dancing and dragon dancing.

In addition, the Albuquerque Chinese Folk Dance Ensemble will present three classic Chinese folk dances. The dragon brings rain while the lions’ role is to ward off evil spirits. The show will culminate in the burning of a traditional long string of firecrackers and the “Feeding of the Lions. On top of all that, the Umami Moto Food Truck will be present to satisfy your hunger. The show is free and held outdoors, rain or shine.
Don’t miss this spectacular show staged in front of the school’s unique three-story pagoda. Parking is available along nearby streets. Come early to get a good seat!
