Casa Flamenca will present its first annual "Abq Flamenco Off," a week-long celebration of flamenco classes, late-night flamenco performances and special events featuring some of Spain's finest young flamenco artists, from June 10 to 19 in Albuquerque.
In June, flamenco activity in Albuquerque is at its peak. The weather has warmed up, the National Institute of Flamenco will be presenting its annual Flamenco Festival at the University of New Mexico and Casa Flamenca will be inaugurating its first annual celebration of the flamenco arts - "Abq Off."
What is an "Off Festival?"
In Spain "Off" festivals are mini flamenco festivals held in smaller venues within the same time period as a larger city-wide flamenco music festival.
Introducing the Participating Artists
The impressive roster of guest artists for this week of events are heirs to the flamenco tradition and style of Cádiz, a port city on the southern coast of Spain. All were born and raised in Cádiz and all began studying and performing flamenco at an early age. All have toured internationally
