Overview

Weems Gallery is pleased to present a new solo exhibition by New Mexican artist B.C. Nowlin titled Shared Passages, Distant Journeys. In this show, Nowlin reveals a spectrum of ideas from his creative explorations, including works never before exhibited. You can move from piece to piece in this robust presentation as though following stepping stones that connect together Nowlin’s most central themes.

Beginning with “Passage”, a momentous, surreal work begun in 2008 and shown for the first time out of his studio, you see an ominous place where danger is looming – unless perhaps, it’s receding? This work raises somewhat darker questions that we see in
Nowlin’s other work, but roads, reflections, and unknown happenings beyond the sight line echo through the more recent works in the show.

Opens March 13, 2026 with a public reception from 5-7pm.
An invite-only artist presentation and demo will follow on March 28.
