B.C. Nowlin: Visions of the New West Exhibition

Overview

B.C. Nowlin: Visions of the New West

A solo exhibition with celebrated New Mexico artist B.C. Nowlin – whose works are included in gallery, corporate and museum collections worldwide – will be featured at Weems Gallery and Framing in the month of October.

The exhibit runs Oct. 4-26, with a meet-the-artist reception on Friday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weems, 5935 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The next day – Saturday, Oct. 5 – Nowlin will do an artist demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m.

Nowlin’s oil paintings are notable for their vibrant and intense colors, and his current-day pieces most often illustrate the tribes of mankind on a spiritual journey – riding on horseback (always seen from behind) through a forest or a river canyon or on a barren plain toward an ever-present, distant light. Signature images like these will be included in “Visions of the New West,” along with other new pieces harkening back to earlier artistic endeavors when Nowlin produced an experimental suite of works showcasing roadside trucks and train cars engulfed in flames and plumes of black smoke.
