Join us for Artwalk on Friday, October 7th from 6-9 pm.
In collaboration with Lapis Room, we will feature the art of the following artists:
Marcelle (Marcie) Bowman
Marcelle Bowman is a mixed media artist, illustrator, and actress based in Albuquerque, NM. During the pandemic, she began deeply connecting with the high-desert landscape. She started collecting rocks during her hikes, organizing them, photographing them, deconstructing them, and starting over again. Her process has evolved into the creation of intricately composed tableaus on reclaimed wood. Bowman describes her work as cathartic, grounding, and a tool to help her find her way through the chaos.
Jesse Littlebird (Laguna/Kewa Pueblos) is a native New Mexico artist, painter, writer and film director with a passion for telling stories that foster cultural experience, dialogue and community engagement for a diverse audience. Storytelling through the medium of painting and film is a vital part of life for Littlebird with his indigenous heritage deeply rooted in the oral tradition culture of his Pueblo Indian lineage and growing up in a creative innovative household.
Abdiel Beltrán is a first-generation Mexican-American artist living and working in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work primarily consists of non-representational imagery and utilizes painting as a form to interrupt everyday life. He reworks and re-screens layers of paint and often finds himself wanting to translate what it means and looks like to "let go". He invites the viewer to not search for a narrative but to be curious instead.
