Artist Talk: Delilah Montoya
Delilah Montoya’s works are grounded in the experiences of the Southwest, bringing together a multiplicity of syncretic forms and practices—from those of Aztec, Mexico and Spain to cross-border vernacular traditions—all of which are shaded by contemporary American customs and values. Her work combines photography, printmaking and installation to explore a wide range of subjects including women boxers, contemporary Casta portraits, sacred heart collotypes, and a mural-sized Guadalupana.
Montoya’s work is included in the exhibition, Traitor, Survivor, Icon: The Legacy of La Malinche on view through September 4.
