2018 Under the Stars Summer Concert Series: Tributo

Overview

We're starting off Salsa Under the Stars this year with a free show in Old Town! Tributo (“Tribute”) was formed to pay homage to Cheo Feliciano, one of Puerto Rico's greatest vocalists who passed away in a car accident in 2014. The group was formed for a show in 2016 for Maravilla, A Night in Puerto Rico, the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation’s signature fundraising event.

Before a sold out crowd, Tributo celebrated the music of Cheo Feliciano on a night dedicated to the beauty that is Puerto Rico. Tributo and it's members, which include musicians from almost all of Albuquerque's salsa bands, returns again to bring your attention back to Puerto Rico through music, culture, arts and dance. The band will once again feature the music of Cheo Feliciano along with songs by other great Puerto Rican artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa,  El Gran Combo,  La Sonora Ponceña and Ismael Rivera.  The band wants to focus attention back to Puerto Rico during the difficult time that the island finds itself in as it tries to recover from its worst natural disaster on record.
