Business Closure Updates

COVID-19 | Albuquerque, New Mexico

We are tracking updates and noting updates to business closures, hours of operation, and changes in services, but for the most up to date information, please consult business websites directly.

Current restrictions, as of December 30, 2020 are as follows:
  • See the most recent Public Health Order here
  • Travelers from high risk states are required to self-quarantine for 14 days or for the duration of their presence in the state, whichever is shorter. Please refer to the New Mexico Department of Health to review rules and exemptions. Find information on the updated Public Health Order here
  • All gatherings of more than five people are prohibited. 
  • Everyone is required to wear a face covering in public in the state of New Mexico. Violators are subject to a $100 fine. 
  • Outdoor dining at Albuquerque restaurants is permitted at 25% of maximum occupancy, but indoor dining remains prohibited. Food and drink establishments may also provide curbside pickup and/or delivery services to customers if they are legally permitted to do so, in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices
  • Food service establishments can still operate through take-out and home delivery service. This same directive applies to restaurants and bars within hotels. Click here for restaurants offering takeout and delivery services.
  • Places of lodging that have completed New Mexico Safe Certified training are allowed to operate at 40% of their maximum occupancy level. Places of lodging that have not completed the training program are permitted to operate at 25% of their maximum occupancy level. 
  • Essential retail businesses may operate at 25% of max capacity or 75 customers at a time, whichever is smaller. 
  • Essential, non-retail businesses must limit operations to those necessary to carry out essential functions. 
  • Close-contact businesses may operate at 25% of max capacity or 10 customers at a time, whichever is smaller. 
  • All businesses and organizations that are not defined as an essential business under the public health order must close. 
  • Close-contact recreational businesses must remain close. This includes movie theaters, arcades, casinos and more. See details on business types here
  • All outdoor recreational facilities may operate at 25% of max capacity, unless required to have lower capacity under state
    COVID-Safe Practices. This includes golf courses, tennis courts and the ABQ BioPark.
  • All non-tribal casinos are ordered to close.
  • Houses of worship may operate at 25% capacity.
