Albuquerque, NM (January 24, 2012) -The Albuquerque Kings wheelchair basketball team, currently ranked number five National Wheelchair Basketball Association, will be participating in the Banner Wheelchair Suns Championship Division Wheelchair Basketball Roundup January 28_29 at the Virginia G. Piper Sports and Fitness Center in Phoenix, AZ.

Among Kings’ opponents in the Championship Division are the third-ranked University of Arizona Wildcats and fourth-ranked Golden State Road Warriors. The Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks and Orlando Magic Wheels currently hold the top two spots, respectively, in the rankings with positive results the Kings could come away from the Roundup ranked number three.

“We are confident going into the Roundup this weekend and games will be very competitive,” said Kings co-captain Sebastian Rael. “The team has been playing very well and is looking for a great showing at the Roundup this weekend.”

Action for the Kings tips off Saturday at 9 a.m. against the seventh-seeded New York Rollin’ Knicks, followed by the top-seeded Arizona Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. and the fifth-seeded Las Vegas Silver Bandits at 3 p.m.

The Albuquerque Kings are a sponsor-based group promoting wheelchair basketball in a fun and competitive environment. The Kings are new to competition in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), but have been operating many years as a local team promoting physical exercise and an environment where physically disabled individuals can participate. The NWBA is the national governing body for wheelchair basketball in the United States. The Kings are one of 185 teams competing throughout the country.
