Albuquerque, NM – In an effort to encourage local businesses to fully embrace the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®, especially this year for the 40th celebration, the Visit Albuquerque (Visit Albuquerque) has issued a challenge to its partners. The Visit Albuquerque’s 900 partner businesses throughout the Albuquerque metro area represent many of the front-line employees that will interact directly with visitors in town for Fiesta.
The program involves the following themed days throughout the nine days of the event, October 1-9.
Saturday, October 1 - Crazy Hat Day
Sunday, October 2 - New Mexico Day (wear red & yellow)
Monday, October 3 - Tourist Day (think fanny packs, cameras, zinc-oxide on the nose)
Tuesday, October 4 - ‘70s Day (Balloon Fiesta began in this groovy decade!)
Wednesday, October 5 - Pin Day (there are some amazing Balloon Fiesta pin collections)
Thursday, October 6 - Zebra/Black & White Day
Friday, October 7 - Fiesta Day (looking forward to sombreros, party hats, noisemakers)
Saturday, October 8 - Crazy Socks Day
Sunday, October 9 - Colors of the Rainbow Day (Our skies are filled with color during Fiesta - your clothes should be today too!)
The businesses have been asked to share their photos of employees dressed in the festive themes throughout the week for distribution through social media. If you are interested in receiving some of the images or a list of participating businesses, please contact the Visit Albuquerque at media@itsatrip.org.
Tourism businesses are leading this charge, but any business or organization is welcome to participate. The more, the better! We would love to see some TV personalities dressed in the themes as well (hint, hint).

In addition to costumes throughout the week, tourism employees will be wearing ribbons showing their support of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and welcoming guests.
