Albuquerque, NM – The entry period for submitting an Albuquerque story for the “My story is written in Albuquerque” campaign has generated more than 100 heartfelt stories about our hometown. The pool has been narrowed down to 10. Now, the public is invited to vote for their favorite of the 10 finalists. The storyteller with the most votes will earn the title of Ultimate Albuquerque Ambassador AND a free trip for two friends or family to visit them here in Albuquerque.

Stories and photos were submitted by Albuquerque residents to share their individual story, but many common themes arose – weather, sunsets, food and chiles, beautiful landscapes and great people. The 10 finalists captured these special features we all love about our city while making their entries unique to their individual experiences.

Now each finalist has a one in 10 chance of becoming the Ultimate Albuquerque Ambassador and winning a trip for two friends/family to come visit them here in Albuquerque. The voting takes place online at www.ItsATrip.org/myabqstorycontest.aspx.

Mayor Berry, our chief storyteller, helped kick off the campaign by saying “The soul of a city is its people, and Albuquerque, no doubt, has great soul.” The finalists have shared their personal stories and are now vying for the title of Ultimate Albuquerque Ambassador.

Voting will take place online through Friday, September 23rd at noon MDT. People can vote for as many entries as they would like, but only once per day. The winner will be announced by October 1st.

The campaign is organized by the Visit Albuquerque (Visit Albuquerque) and supported by the City of Albuquerque and media partners across the metro area. The goal is to ensure that we are capitalizing on the power of the hundreds of thousands of Albuquerque ambassadors living here. After all, nothing beats word-of-mouth marketing, so the benefits of ensuring that locals are strong ambassadors, and sharing their positive Albuquerque experiences with potential visitors, are significant.

***Finalists may be available for media interviews next week if you are interested.
