Santa Fe County Clerk Attends IACREOT Semi-Annual Meeting

Valerie Espinoza, Santa Fe County Clerk, attended the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT) Semi-Annual Meeting recently. The two-day meeting was held January 8 and 9 in Alexandria, Virginia.

Education for the meeting was presented by speakers who are well respected in their fields. Policy Specialists suggested ways to help legislators better understand the challenges to election officials in 2012.

Ms. Espinoza is the 2nd Vice-President for IACREOT. She was instrumental in bringing this conference to the State of New Mexico and received an Ambassador Award for outstanding service in bringing the 2012 IACREOT annual conference. The conference is scheduled to be held June 29-July 1 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She encourages government officials in the State of New Mexico to attend this conference to enrich their knowledge for serving the public.

The International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT) was founded in 1971 by a small group of government officials who wanted a professional organization that would provide a forum for the free exchange of information.

Over the past 40 years, IACREOT has grown to more than 1500 members, representing local, state, provincial, national and international associations and agencies. Members are government officials whose responsibilities fall into one of four divisions – finance, land records, courts and elections.
