The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) and the New Mexico Tourism Department hosted NBC’s Weekend Today Show in Albuquerque and Santa Fe on Wednesday, May 12th and Thursday, May 13th for a segment called “Today Hits the Road.” The segment features personalities from the Weekend Today program traveling around the country to famous stretches of highway including Route 66, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Highway 1 along the West Coast.
The producers selected Albuquerque and Santa Fe to represent a stop along Rt. 66 after speaking with the New Mexico Tourism Department and ACVB. Filming with anchor Amy Robach took place throughout Albuquerque including stops at the Turquoise Museum, Old Town, 66 Diner, Nob Hill, El Pinto and a ride along Rt. 66 with the ABQ Trolley Co. She also visited the San Miguel Mission in Santa Fe.
ACVB thanks our many partners for their assistance in showcasing Albuquerque for national television. The 3-4 minute segment is scheduled to air on Saturday, May 22nd during the Weekend Today Show.
