The National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) 2012 Treasury Management Conference will be held in Albuquerque, May 15-18 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. New Mexico State Treasurer James B. Lewis, recent past president of NAST, will serve as conference host for the event.

“I am proud to welcome state treasurers from around the country to Albuquerque for the 2012 NAST conference,” said Treasurer Lewis. “This event will bring hundreds of people to New Mexico and have a positive impact on local businesses.”

The Treasury Management Conference brings together more than 350 attendees for education in the operations of state treasuries and other government finance officers. The 2011 conference included attendees from 47 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.

Treasurer Lewis has been elected by his peers to several leadership positions in NAST. He served as president of the organization in 2010, and as past president and chairman of the long-range planning committee.

“Treasurer Lewis made a very persuasive case for Albuquerque with its beautiful scenery, cultural activities, and great meeting space for us to bring our conference to New Mexico,” said NAST President and Nevada State Treasurer Kate Marshall. “We are looking forward to a wonderful time in Albuquerque.”
