American Indian Student Services (AISS) will host the opening Kick-off Event, Friday, November 2 at 12:00PM in the Student Union Building Atrium featuring the delivery of a 2012 Proclamation on behalf of UNM President Frank, followed by dance performances from Walatowa Headstart students.
Immediately following Kick-off Event, Guest Keynote Speaker Gyasi Ross is slated to present an interactive lecture entitled “Making it Work: The Native Community and Values as Tools for Academic Success”. Keynote address will take place in the Student Union Ballroom C at 1:00 – 3:00PM. The final event of the day, a book signing, will take place from 3:00PM-4:00PM in the Ethnic Center Foyer (Mesa Vista Hall, 1st Floor) featuring Ross’s book, “Don’t Know Much About Indians (but I wrote about us anyways)”.
