Indianapolis, IN -- After hosting the meet the previous three years, USA Track & Field and the city of Albuquerque have agreed in principal that the 2013 and 2014 editions of the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships will return to the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference preceding the 2012 Championships featuring USATF Interim Chief Executive Officer Mike McNees, Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry and Visit Albuquerque CEO/President Dale Lockett.

“We are excited to be back in Albuquerque for what is our third run here,” McNees said during the press conference. “We are excited to announce that we have agreed in principal to extend our run here for another two years. We are all about partnerships and moving forward we think this has been a great venue. The convenience of the facilities and the fast track has been great. And we are glad we have a willing partner.”

“We appreciate the partnership and USA Track & Field has been a great partner for us,” Berry said. “Our goal in Albuquerque is simple: we want to be the best place to run and jump for indoor track and field in the United States and you don’t get there by accident. You get there by making significant investments. You get there by partnerships. Athletes want to be able to compete and they want to be able to run fast and jump high. And I think we have a facility to do that.”

The Visit Albuquerque, along with the New Mexico Sports Authority, the University of New Mexico, the City of Albuquerque and USATF New Mexico have been the official hosts for the championships for the past three meets.
