Pueblo of Acoma, N.M. – The opportunity to ride through the Acoma and Laguna reservations returns with the 7th Annual Tour de Acoma on Sunday, September 28, 2008. The annual event takes riders on a 25, 50 or 100-mile trek and offers the chance to ride through scenic Acoma valleys not usually open to the general public.

Both the recreational and experienced cyclist can appreciate the special offerings that this once-a-year, all paved ride provides. The races start at Sky City Casino Hotel (Interstate-40, exit 102). The 100-mile leg starts at 7am, 50-mile at 8am and the 25-mile will begin at 8:15am. A portion of the registration fees will go to the Haak’u Museum. Registration forms available at REI-Albuquerque, Sky City Cultural Center, Sky City Casino & Hotel, Skyway Travel Center, Sky City Travel Center and The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. All participants will receive a tour t-shirt, a Huwaka Restaurant buffet coupon, free admission into the Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum, and a free coupon to tour Sky City Pueblo, the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in North America and the 28th National Historic Trust Site, and post race BBQ for all racers, additional tickets for the BBQ are $10.00. Also a complimentary, high-carbohydrate meal for all participants will be provided by Sky City Hotel Casino on Saturday, September 27th in the Pinon rooms from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

First, second and third place winners of all three races for women, men and tandem, will receive traditional Acoma pottery jars and canteens.

Single registration: 25 mile – $30; 50 mile –$40; 100 mile – $50
Tandem registration: 25 mile – $45; 50 mile – $60; 100 mile – $75
