Plan the perfect Albuquerque staycation with new itinerary-building tool and interactive visitors guide

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – (April 17, 2019) – For those looking to rediscover their city, or introduce it to friends and family, planning that stay just got a lot easier.

Using Visit Albuquerque’s newly debuted trip-planning tool, locals—and their visitors—will be able to design a personalized itinerary with a few clicks of the mouse.

“This new tool is designed to optimize experiences around one’s interests, preferences, budget, and other relevant factors,” said Tania Armenta, President & CEO of Visit Albuquerque. “Leveraging advanced algorithms, the online platform automatically sorts through hundreds of Albuquerque points of interest at the click of a button, enabling locals and their visitors to effortlessly plan a staycation or trip and remind themselves of all there is to do in this one-of-a-kind city.”

The system builds customized itineraries based on several variables, including interests, season, length of stay, budget, type of trip, and more – and provides suggestions for each day, from breakfast to dinner, which attractions and activities are a must-do, and everything in between. Once an itinerary is generated, users can further personalize it by swapping, adding or deleting any items, and sharing the final product with friends or family members. Check out this informational video for a more in-depth look at how it works.

While the itinerary-building tool helps locals and visitors craft a customized itinerary, Visit Albuquerque’s newly released interactive version of the 2019 Official Albuquerque Visitors Guide helps to inspire and excite those interested in Albuquerque and learn more about all there is to experience here.

“We are thrilled to release the interactive version of the 2019 Official Albuquerque Visitors Guide, which allows for a convenient and entertaining way to access this go-to resource for those looking to explore Albuquerque,” said Audrey Johnson, Director of Marketing for Visit Albuquerque. “We were proud to partner with a local publisher and local writers to produce a guide packed with one-of-a-kind experiences, events and photos of the Albuquerque area that offers travelers—and locals—a change of perspective.”

Residents with friends and family that prefer a hardcopy version are encouraged to request a free 2019 Visitors Guide to be delivered outside of Albuquerque via mail. Locally, guides can be picked up at either the Old Town Information Center in Plaza Don Luis or the Sunport Information Center (near baggage claim), as well as at many Visit Albuquerque partner businesses throughout the city.

By encouraging locals to plan for vacation, Visit Albuquerque is underscoring the importance of taking time off.

According to the U.S. Travel Association, in 2018, more than 705 million vacation days went unused by American workers. Research shows that individuals who take the time to plan their next vacation are more likely to use all of their time off, and report greater levels of happiness at work and at home.

“By committing to planning for vacation, Americans, including our locals, can reap the benefits of taking a break while giving themselves something to look forward to,” said Armenta. “And with new developments and attractions on the horizon, 2019 is the perfect time to rediscover Albuquerque.”
