ALBUQUERQUE – The National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Pimentel Concert Series, a partnership with Pimentel Music, presents a very special musical event, a tribute concert honoring master guitar maker Lorenzo Pimentel, on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre.

The stellar concert line-up runs the gamut of virtuoso guitar performance, from classical Spanish guitar to mariachi, jazz, folk, salsa, and more. Performers include Hector Pimentel y Leyenda, Gustavo Pimentel, Mariachi Fiesta Ranchera, Cosmic Jazz Trio, Watermelon Jug Band, Chuy Martínez and Los Trinos, Harry Irizarry, Hector Garcia, Lewie Wickham, Siyeric, the John Truitt Ensemble, Trio Bravo with Ambrose Rivera, Los Primos, Quemozo, and Up a Creek.

These outstanding musicians are coming together to honor the memory of Lorenzo Pimentel and his contributions of world-class custom guitars to musicians worldwide. The event also honors Josefina Pimentel for her role in making Lorenzo's dream come true. Lorenzo and Josefina, along with their sons, created Pimentel & Sons Guitar Makers, Inc. in Albuquerque. They represent a successful Hispanic family that has kept a family tradition strong, handing down its talents from generation to generation both in music and guitar making and in giving back to the community.

The concert will begin at 7 PM on April 14. Tickets are $17, $22 and $27, with a $5 discount for students, seniors, and NHCC members, and are available at the NHCC Box Office, at 505-724-4771, or on the Center’s website, www.nhccnm.org.
